All Things Mary: Mornings With Mary Day 9

Chosen by God's grace
A crucial role in His plan
Salvation for man

The St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Albuquerque celebrates the feast day of our Lady of Guadalupe in a big way. A special mass, an evening procession-it is a bonding event for the community. The homes in the nearby area all do up their front yards with a shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe  I got to attend this last year and it is quite profound!

After mass and the procession, the crowd continues through the neighborhoods with the priest who goes from house to house bestowing a blessing on each home.

Join us on this journey of the
twelve days of mornings with Mary.
everyone is invited.
while this is not about religion, it is about sharing,
about opening hearts, rejoicing in ultimate mother love.
it is about  light, beauty, inspiration, thoughtful regard.
a welcome chance to begin each new day together
in beauty and peace.

Come see what others have shared over at Rebecca's page. Feel free to join in with us whether if it's for one day or all 12!

Pardon my irreverence again, but Mary is all dolled-up for Christmas!

This is something I would very much like to take part in some time...I participated in the Dia de los Muertos procession in Tucson last year, which was awesome, as well. Thank you for sharing this!

This feast you've shared here makes me wish that I had been a cradle Catholic when my grandmother drove my cousin and me to Albuquerque in the mid-1950s. What a beautiful setting!

I love the first photo. Mary and Jesus are color coordinated, and his hands are raised in benediction to bless her. Like mother, like son. . .

Your post brought back memories of the first time I attended a classical music concert at the st Francis Convent in Havana. It was many years ago around my birthday when the clocks go back and the nights draw in early. I loved the surroundings (it was a candle lit event) and the music, of course. Many thanks. That was a beautiful post.

Greetings from London.
