Tantalizing Tandoori Topples Towering Toys

ABC Wednesday is a word meme with participants from around the world. This fabulous meme was created and hosted by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt who hails from Great Britain. Over time, others have joined in to help host this wonderful and informative meme. We are now in our NINTH round! Some of the participants have been with this from the very first round; others have joined in along the way. Each week we are taken across the globe to see the varied and exciting contributions people have taken the time to discover and capture. We start with the letter, "A" and each week we post something in regards to the next letter of the alphabet. This week's letter is, "T".

Toys For Cats

Our black and white cat, Rocky is pretty darned smart. This is his bowl of toys (he also has a basket of them too). This bowl of toys is in our living room-sometimes under the coffee table, sometimes on the tray next to the couch. No matter. When we are sitting in the room, he comes in and entertains himself by fishing through the bowl of toys. Whatever catches his muse is what he plays with. VERY entertaining! One of his favorite toys is the really small mouse at the top mid center of the photo and the little round dowel stick at the mid left.

A transgression if I may...related to Thanksgiving and turkey dinner. Thursday morning at 1:30 a.m. (we were sound asleep), Rocky comes running into the bedroom making all kinds of chasing and pouncing noises. I'm thinking that he brought something in to the house. Considering the time of day, the likelihood of it being a lizard was zero. Dang nab it, It thought. Must be a MOUSE. I wondered how long this (literally) cat and mouse game was going to go on as it was disrupting our sleep! I'm not about to try and resolve that issue at that hour of the day. Luckily (yes, I said luckily), the mouse ran under our bed and Rocky gave up.
Fast forward a few hours later-some time in the early afternoon. I am in our dining room doing last minute preparations for our dinner. I hear tiny scratchy noises somewhere in the room. Hmmmm....must be that mouse, but the odds of my trying to locate it and set it free were not good. Besides, I'm on a time schedule! And, I really wasn't sure it was a mouse as I didn't see it at all-I just assumed that it was a mouse. Fast forward a few more hours and we are all sitting down enjoying our dinner and conversation. My son suddenly exclaims-'"what's THAT in the window?" (our dining room window). We all look and lo and behold, behind the curtain we see the dark shadow of a mouse climbing his way up. Poor thing! The boys get up to try and retrieve it. They were not very brave and one of them-John's friend, Vince, owns a python and I thought that HE might want to catch it to feed to his (ugh) pet python. Why anyone would want to own a creature of the wild for a pet is beyond me. Anyway, I'll stay on track and stop transgressing! The boys were very unsuccessful at capturing the mouse. He was too fast! I sat there calmly through all of this as mice don't frighten me (they're so tiny!). Said mouse dashed out of the dining room into the foyer area. Husband thought he'd leave the front door open in hopes that Mr. Mouse would take advantage. We never saw him leave, but it did work. Mr. Mouse left the house. And where was THAT cat throughout all of this? Taking a nap on our bed. Lazy cat.

(more) Toys in the Attic...

These were in a funky store: a non-franchised store. A mom and pop kind of store with the most eclectic and unusual toys! I love toys if you haven't guessed. Although I don't really play with them, just having them around brings a smile to my face.

A Totally Tall Tower

In a shopping center in Sedona. The name of the shopping center: Talacapaque.

 TRANQUIL

Or, serene. Hey, but since we are doing the letter, "T", we'll go with 'tranquil'. We're all going to need a lot of that in this next month-especially those that brave the shopping malls!

TANDOORI CUISINE

(image from Wikipedia)

Tandoori cuisine is done in a tandoori oven. One of the main spices used is turmeric. Of late, turmeric has also made the forefront by way of vitamins as it  is a very good anti-inflammatory supplement. I don't know about you, but I am getting hungry looking at this food!

Oh Paula, you made me laugh right out loud with your cat and mouse story. At least it stayed out of your Thanksgiving dinner.
Ok, now you have made me hungry...love the Tandoori goodies.

Wow Paula you've gone to town with T this week. That is one smart mouse, an eventful thanksgiving, glad to hear you remained tranquil and sanguine throughout. The toys are obviously more attractive than the real thing. Love tandoori, tasty.

I love your cat and mouse story. I'm kind of opposite from you. Small animals scare me a lot more than large ones. I've always loved dogs and horses and have even been calm with a fairly close encounter with a bear but little mice make me nervous. You always come up with such great words and photographs for the letters.

There's a mouse in the house! I liked the thought that you opened the door and it left. Cute tale of the mouse and cat caper.

How fortunate your cat is.

Tooth Fairy please come and see it when you get a chance. Thanks!

Too many T's are tormenting me in your post -- not to mention the mouse! The mouse story is too close to home these days as we and our cats try to stem the tide of incoming rodents!
