Somewhere In Time...

As I write this, there are less than 13 days before the opening reception for a group show that I curated, takes place. It was a year and a half in the making and involves a total of 20 photographers (including myself). It's called, "The Rail Yard Exhibit". Our show will be at the Kimo Theater Art Gallery in downtown Albuquerque. You can find out more about the show and the Rail Yard at the blog I created just for it (it has many layers that you can 'dig' through to your heart's content).

My Shadow Shot contributions for this weekend and the next are in honor of the upcoming show.

DOOR

One of the many metal doors to this enormous piece of property...nice how the light is falling over it. I tell you, the light and the shadows on this 27 acre property are highly seductive!!!

What is this???

It's on the outside of the building and I don't know if it's to take something out or put something in the building. I can only assume out. It made for an extremely unique shadow.

I hope you take some time to explore the site I created for the show. The intention was for all of the photographers to write something about their connection and experience to the Rail Yard. I've had as much success with that as I do herding cats....

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Hey Harriet. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2010 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

Congratulations on your show - you have shown us such beauties as the abandoned Albuquerque Railyard. The old industrial landscape my be a shadow of itself but I am imagining the stately look of its past. A great exhibit is is in the making, you are the host af a fine artistic event...

The odd shadow may be a muffler to a loud device inside, a transformer and conduit inside or a water tower in the dry ABQ lands. Whatever, it is a great shadow!

That's terrific, Paula! I look forward to checking out the show! Great captures as always -- not sure what the odd shadow is, but it is interesting! Hope you have a great Labor Day Weekend! Enjoy!

When a door looks as mysterious as the one you have presented to us today, my first inclination is always to open it and see--for good or ill--what's behind it!

I LOVE MY SHADOW

I love my shadow,
My shadow loves me;
We chat together
And don’t disagree!

My shadow and I
Prefer not to shout
As we go walking
And rambling about.

My shadow’s so wise,
I ask what she thinks;
She’s happy to share,
And then nods and winks.

My shadow and I
Are best buds, you see;
That’s why we try hard
To always agree!

At first glance, I thought the first shot was a painting. It took a few seconds to actually see it for what it is.
Both very nice shots.

Beautiful Southwestern hues grace these photos with sun drenched desert colors...love it!!!

And yes, it'll be Sunday chicken dinner for me, sorry to say, but it has to be done before winter sets in, the 2 roos fight constantly when in small spaces, but we'll continue to get beautiful brown eggs...have a wonderful, safe holiday Paula!

Love Albuquerque and wish I could just pop over to view your show. As you're in a bit of an artist's mecca, I'm sure the show will be fantastic.

Especially love your top metal shot this week.
