Always remember to feed the good dog.
On my morning walk (that is, when I do), I always have my cell phone with me just in case I um, need to, um make a phone call....NOT!!! In case I need to take a picture! I encountered this a few weeks ago and saved it as a kick off photo for fall. I'm starting to get familiar with exactly how close I can get before it is completely out of focus. And, I almost always use the free Retro camera ap. It has 5 Retro Camera looks.
I love fall...perhaps my favorite time of year even if it does mark the end of warm weather and ushers in the cold that comes with winter. The light is beautiful, the air just sparkles. Quiet takes on a new meaning. I feel very grounded and centered in the fall. More, " in the moment..."
And, a latch from my archives which I don't think I've ever posted. This latch is a particularly good one with the nice rust on it and the painted wood surface it sits on. If it weren't for the date in the file information that I have in Photoshop, I would not know where I took this picture of a latch as I will photograph just about any latch I encounter. This one is from the Albuquerque Rail Yard-my first visit there.

I am going to remember the two dogs, wonderful analogy
love the texture of your shots
We see little to no utility in a dead leaf, more a chore to remove. Aha, you have found a fine use for one - a shadow that is great. We need to think a bit harder about reusing the old and brown foliage...
The latch is great - the surface rust adds a neat texture to the old steel. Not useless, the latch still provides is usual function, the honest a and functional style still there. A great capture actually!
Thanks for coming by my blog. Fall is coming and with a beauty all its own. I love the first photo-very nice. Great story about the 2 dogs--we need to be careful which one we feed. Thanks for telling me about the haiku meme--I'll check it out. Have a lovely weekend. Micke ;)
Well done....I especially like the old rusted gate lock. And that quote by the Native American.........gotta love that too.

Terrific ShadowShots. Nice that you could remember taking the first one for Fall...I do that, then can't locate the photos when the time has come. Hehe, old age sucks. Happy SSS Paula!
love this post paula...great pictures. love that you are "in the moment" thata girl!! have a great weekend!!!
I like the rusty latch - although I sometimes worry that it might be strange to get excited about rusty things!!
Interesting photo of the rusty latch.
I also love fall..and I don't mind saying goodbye to heat and humidity!
I could never live in the South.
And as I said on some other peoples' blogs, I'm very much looking forward to the foliage!
Hope you enjoy the first weekend of autumn!
The hook-and-eye latch reminds me of many of the same ilk I have known over the years, some as rusted as the one you photographed. They are a simple, sturdy breed, that do their job uncomplainingly!
SHADOW BOLD
Shadow bold and shadow bright,
Shadow with me day and night,
Shadow taller than a tree,
Tell me what you think of me!

My shadow post, your comment will be highly appreciated.
Very good photos, especially I like the first one.
Great story as a reminder to all of us.
Regards and best wishes
Those words are very wise. I will remember them. I've heard that saying before, but I tewnd to forget while everyday life devours me. (Who is doing THAT feeding?)
Love both of the shots. The dry leaf, casting a bold shadow, and that latch! I love looking deep into it.
I nwas in Alb on Wednesday. Bought Lobos gear to take back to the Grandkids. Home now. See you in a month or so.
Peace
The one we feed the most... so very true!
Love your captures for the day.
hmmm. How do we know he didn't feed the mean dog? lol.
It may be autumn, but it is still hot and muggy here in Hawaii... typical Septemer weather. We have to use the a/c every day!
