Living in the Moment...

Every morning the wall in my garden in my back yard is graced with this shadow.

I think what makes me particularly happy when I see this shadow is the bird on the wrought iron watching over it. It reminds me of my bird friends that visit our yard throughout the day. I am fortunate enough to have a back yard that is FULL of bird activity all day long. I can sit there for hours (if I were a lady of leisure and I'm not) and just watch the birds come and go. The other week, I caught a rare nap in the hammock under our fruitless mulberry tree and a Robin nearly hopped up on me as he was flitting from the lawn to the top of the block wall. The hammock in my back yard is a visual reminder to SLOW DOWN and LIVE IN THE MOMENT. Yes, I know...easier said than done, for sure. And, I am happy to see the migratory bees are back and they have taken over the bird bath. Sad for the birds (they have other baths in our yard though). But, last year the bees  did not come and I was really worried that they had disappeared altogether!

And, an interior shot of a curtain rod...

Repetitious patterns. What is there not to like about them? Yes, I am biased about them, no doubt! This is a perfect illustration as to why (I hope).

DO remember to slow down. DO remember to stop and live in the moment. It is a mindful act that needs to be repeated throughout each day. Key word: mindful!

Often, iron and other metals are used for ordinary items. Yet, when formed just so, iron can be made into beautiful items with an artistic flair. The scrolling metal on the patio is full of style, the shadow really reflecting its beauty so well.

The curtain rod has the same good look in subject and shadow, too.

Our mulberry tree in the front yard is full of fruit, and likewise the birds are all over (and the squirrels, too :). The animals that arrive for the berries are happy - but not out cat Linus, who sees but cannot capture them. Such a hunter he is (not)

Have a nice week!

Love your shadow shots for the day, Paula! There's just something about wrought iron that leaves such delicate, beautiful shadows! Hope your weekend is off to a great start! Enjoy!

The familiar shadow has become your friend. How sweet!

SHADOW DANCE

Shadows here and shadows there,
Shadows, shadows everywhere!
Shadows left and shadows right;
Shadows dancing through the night!
Shadows crouching on the wall;
Shadows spring and shadows fall
On the unsuspecting guest,
Who thought shadows offered rest!

Yep, that ShadowShot is worthy of a smile each morning! Besides the little birds on the iron, the swirling scrolls reminded me of birdie Lalalelou's tail!! hehe. Happy SSS.

Both such beautiful photos! You're very lucky to have so many feathered friends visiting your yard. I'm also lucky that way too! And like you, I could easily watch them all day long if I had the time to do so :)

I instantly felt the same way, that little bird on the delicate wrought ironwork against the precise, dark shadow. A really special shot.

Nice shadow to greet you on the patio in the morning. The wrought iron leaves an interesting shadow for sure.

And your curtain rod shot is quite artsy ;-) I like it a lot.

I hope you have a great Friday. I'm visiting late, but better late than never.

I see my hubby was the first to visit. He's just so organized.
