ABC Wednesday is a word meme with participants from around the world. This fabulous meme was created and hosted by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt who hails from Great Britain. Over time, others have joined in to help host this wonderful and informative meme. We are now in our seventh round-some of the participants have been with this from the very first round; others have joined in along the way. Each week we are taken across the globe to see the varied and exciting contributions people have taken the time to discover and capture. We start with the letter, "A" and each week we post something in regards to the next letter of the alphabet. This week's letter is, "P".
PALLBEARER'S GLOVES
I thought this appropriate as we are in the 'season' of All Soul's Day (and Day of the Dead in some places). It is difficult and sad to have to let go of someone you love. Particularly if their departure occurs sooner rather than later. I took this many years ago at my uncle's funeral. My brothers and cousins were the pall bearers and I had never noticed the tradition of the gloves being placed on the coffin at other funerals before it is lowered into the grave. It was the final good bye. Difficult. Sad. But, most certainly the period at the end of a sentence.
PURPLE PANTONE COLORS
Those of you who are in the business of the graphic arts in any manner are pretty familiar with this (such as the purple Pantone color chart here). Pantone is actually a printing company who set the standard for color matching used in the printing industry. It took the brilliance of a chemist to figure all this out, this color matching thing with ink formulation in the printing process. Without this standardization, the color variations in the printmaking world would be infinite and unmanageable!
PILES OF PLENTIFUL PLATES
Yes, a plethora of plates piled high. All for the sake of serving up delectable goodies at an annual tea function. You will have to make it a point to come back here next week when I do "Q" to find out more about this annual event. Hopefully, I've peaked your interest!
PUMPKINS
No need to carve these pumpkins. Heck, these are big enough for some of us to hide in! Portly pumpkins, you might say. No pies can be made from these, sorry to say.

What a great selection Paula! The information about "pantone" is something totally new to me, and I loved the "pile of plentiful plates!"

Very great P words. The photos are wonderful too! Thanks for sharing!
What a Potpourri of things you shared today. Great choices for P day.
I used to have lots and lots of plates. But I would always wait doing the dishes until I had run out of them. It would take me hours by then...
perfect piles of pictures, girl. well done.
You had me at the purple shades. Eclectic as always but the range of purples was the bonus. I'am a sucker for the colour.
Good work, Paula! You certainly provided a pile of Ps for us!

How fun your P post. The stacks of plates made me remember I needed to do the dishes. haha
Looking forward to the Q - the P's are perfectly perfect. The first one is sad, indeed. Purple is wonderful and a tongue twister is good for what ails us!
Beautiful and creative idea for this P letter, I love that perfect ornament with beautiful flowers!
And those pumpkins are huge! :)

Great P-words here.
Purple Pantone Printing, makes me think of how different the US is from other countries. In Sweden there is a colour system called the Natural Colour System, abreviated 'NCS' where the numbering is made up of the amounts of the basic pigments yellow-blue-red-black-white (or whatever is considered to be a basic colour) together with the procentage. So instead of an arbitary numbering made by Pantone, the numbers and letters represent exactly what makes up that particular colour. A kind of short recipe.
My Mommie used to work as a graphic designer for Electrolux here in Sweden and she chose the colours for household products like vaccum-cleaners using this system.
Love your pumpkins! I bet they are fun to play hide-and-seek in!

Plates, gosh whose doing the washing up. The pumpkins look as though they may be lining up to be chosen by the Great Pumpkin a la Charlie Brown. Perfect pick for the P day.
What a perfect tie-in to All Saints Day/All Souls Day. I think leaving the pall bearer gloves is a lovely good-bye gesture. Yes, I'm a slave to my PMS book both offline and online! I'm glad the plates were clean. ;-)
