Lavender Festival 2010 at Los Poblanos
Los Poblanos Ranch originally was a Creamland Diary. I was there this past Sunday to attend the Lavender Festival. I also realized that the lotus' were blooming (someone told me about them last year), but I didn't have a chance to track their location down, so I came back today to do that. And, got sidetracked by all the other wonderful things there on the property.
I forgot to ask a staff person if these were grain silos. It would seem that way if this was a dairy, right?
This is the Farm Shop where they sell all of their lavender products. I could've easily spent more time here at the shop taking even more photos than I already did. Los Poblanos should hire me as their property publicity photographer! ; )
A whole bunch of clay pots used to propagate the lavender. Don't know how to grow lavender? There's a workshop coming up soon here and they will teach you how to grow it.
Interior of the Farm Shop. Outside, you can hear chickens clucking away as they lay their eggs. I really felt at home hearing that sound (common to Molokai). Anyway, they had cleverly stuck different kinds of bird feathers in blown glass balls and orbs. Pretty cool!
You know, had I not been interrupted by a cell phone call and stepped back outside of the Farm Shop, I would not have noticed this caterpillar! Isn't he/she a beaut?
It's summer and it's time for hollyhocks here in New Mexico. These are at the entrance to one of the garden paths on the property.
At last! This is what I came for! To see the lotus' in bloom! Except they were too far from the bank of the pond for me to get some really good shots. I am remiss that I left my long lens at home! I shall try to get back here again before they are done blooming. Fingers crossed...
And, for your amusement, a short 'movie' I did this past Sunday of the Lavender Festival at Los Poblanos Farm. An annual event that I kept missing, but made it a point to attend this year. An aromatherapy experience for sure! The clip didn't come out so well as I realized after I downloaded the images that I had my video setting too low. Oh well, live and learn! I hope...
