Lichen Lovely Leis (get it?)

ABC Wednesday is a word meme with participants from around the world. This fabulous meme was created and hosted by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt who hails from Great Britain. We are now in our sixth round-some of the participants have been with this from the very first round; others have joined in along the way. Each week we are taken across the globe to see the varied and exciting contributions people have taken the time to discover and capture. We start with the letter, "A" and each week we post something in regards to the next letter of the alphabet. This week's letter is, "L".

LEIS

This is considered a special occasion kind of lei as it takes many flowers to make it. This lei is made from a vanda orchid and the center of the orchid is separated and sewn together to make this lei (instead of sewing the entire string of flowers together). My sister sent this to me when I completed my 2nd Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts back in 2007. And, yes, this is a close up of the detail of the lei.

LOGS

I thought it odd to see this grouping of logs along the creek that is on the Los Conchas trail up in the Jemez area of New Mexico. I would LOVE to have that in my back yard! Yes, why not the creek too, while we're at it!

LEAF

Leaf of the mimosa tree aka shower tree aka Persian Silk tree aka pink siris, and so on, and so on, and so on...

LUPINE

In this case a yellow lupine. I know in Texas in the spring, many fields and meadows are full of the purple lupine (how heavenly is that?). But, these yellow ones aren't too shabby either.

Oh, sorry to tease you. No lichen was used in this post! But I did use it in a previous post!

You found many great Ls! I'm assuming the lei is fake flowers so you can keep it forever? I love lupine!

The Lei is beautiful. The wood looks thick, but ready to be split and used for heat on a cool morning.
Great photos!
I am appreciative of the connection to Rebecca's site and the auction. Thank you.

Johnny Cash's last posthumous album has aloha oe on it; leis always remind me of that song.

On behalf of the ABC Wednesday team, thank you!

Another fun post! My granddaughter will be married in Hawaii in July and I'm guessing she'll have a lei. :) Or two. Lovely logs - they could be used for nifty seats around a firepit. And the lupine is always wonderful.

Wow, that lei has lasted well, hasn't it? I thought they would fade quite quickly!

I love the logs, too. It would make a lovely garden seat!
