Ice Monsters

If you didn't know what cast this shadow, it might be a challenge to figure out what the source is. I thought it looked a bit 'monster-ish'. Maybe a 'gator that got in some uranium. Who knows?

We had a bit of a snowfall this past weekend and it was a few days before we actually saw sun again (and, sadly, it was just that one day). We're not used to so many cloudy, overcast days here in NM. Yes. Spoiled.

This one was at the gym and I stopped on my way to my car to take this. Someone actually stopped to ask me why I was taking a photo of this. I had to explain that it has to do with my mission statement of not passing by these seemingly ordinary things in life. He looked at it and started to enjoy the surface of the ice, the patterns and how it was like a stop action motion in time.

Nice that he 'got it'!

I hope that your New Year was a happy celebration of out with the old and in with the new! May this upcoming year be full of blessings and happy surprises for you and yours.

Join us as a group of us (yes-there are many of us!) from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted!

Ice leaves a wonderful source of shadow, be it made of water, mineral and/or man-made. When the flow stops, it feels like time stops too. Very nice look at ice and 'ice'.

It is always fun to stop and not just smell the roses, but look at the often unknown and unseen objects we see in our lives. Happily the gentleman you spoke with 'got it' too. Happy new Year!

I thought the first shot was from a gutter or downspout. I too find myself explaining why I am taking a picture of certain things.
