Both of these trees may seem to be bigger than life in these images. But, they're not!

In fact, quite the opposite is true. They are about the size of one's hands! Very easy to pass by when out and about hiking in the badlands of Cuba, NM. It takes a very resilient plant to survive out here and these had done a good job before their 'expiration date' came about. In fact, their growth is so stunted that they must've seemed to be Bonsai plants.
The area out here is spectacular-you can see more images of it on my Facebook timeline. The images were posted on Sept. 24th.

Love those beach drenched colors and bony shadows.
exquisite captures of these wonders!
I really like the top photo - the shadow looks mighty, as if we are at 500 FT above the ground and this being a huge tree. Naturally our perspectives and imaginations are tested here, as it is a diminutive plant that sits barely off the ground. A neat trick our eyes play on us!
Your excellent photography really did play a trick on my old eyes and mind. I am so glad you told us about the shots. So they are really tiny. That is amazing. The second picture has to be my favorite of the two. What fine captures.
I really like the lookof shadows on sand, especially ones created by plants, whether dead or alive.
Wonderful lines and curves in these shots. Here our driftwood is long and very heavy, as I live by the coast.
love these deceptive trees! Cheers!
Stunning shots!!
these images is not only shadowshots. They are a work of art :)
Cuba is an interesting place. I've passed through it many times...with the emphasis on "passing through." Thanks for showing me that there are at least a few things worth stopping for!
What great shadows those trees make !
