Fifteen

It's a long shot kind of a shadow as it is from the address that is on the glass door of a coffee shop here in Rio Rancho (Cafe Bella Coffee-best coffee ever!). Some of you who are reading this have gone there many times. I'll bet you never noticed this shadow cast by numbers of the address on the door, have you? You'll have to look and see if it is there next time you stop by for that oh-so-satisfying cup of espresso, latte, or whatever the brew is for the day. It happened to catch my eye yesterday after I got done hanging some artwork there. I've been curating the art here at this shop for 2 years now and have never hung my work-always someone else's. So, I figure, it's high time I hang my own work!

I curated a variety of pieces that span over several years and represent several mediums (almost all that I work in) of photography, printmaking, encaustic, acrylic and mixed media. So, if you live nearby, stop in to see it as it will be up until July 2nd, 2014. Mike, the proprietor, took a shot for Cafe Bella's Face Book page:

He must've pressed the shutter when I was halfway through the smile-I really wasn't grimacing!

Heads up to all my friends at the Shadow Shot Sunday 2 meme-I plan to do some scheduled posts for next Saturday and the following, but will not be able to go visit your sites as I head home to Molokai this Sunday (May 4th) for a double funeral on May 10th. My Dad had passed on April 3rd and his wife of 30 years passed 11 days after he did. He was on dialysis and opted to discontinue. She was battling stomach cancer. It will be a bittersweet journey home. I look forward to seeing my siblings (four brothers and one sister) and their families, along with the rest of family and friends in Hawaii, but it is emotionally staggering to lose two people you love at about the same time.

Come join us every week, as a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted!

Happily, the art on the walls that adds to our pleasure will help you to focus on more pleasant times...instead of focusing your loss. Take care!

I can only hope my sweetie and I go together- we'd both be lost without the other. My deepest sympathies to you.
