You've Got Rain!
No, make that, "We've got rain!"
As you may already know from some of my previous posts, I've talked about how scary and brittle dry it's been here in NM. When I wrote about it in June, we had not seen rain since around September of 2012. And that rain wasn't much to write home about.
The image of the rain gauge here is from Thursday night's rain. Tonight (Friday night), while we were out enjoying live jazz music in the patio at a venue, a huge storm came in, causing us to pack it up and go home. I think we got about 1"-2" in about an hour or so. Needless to say, even though there is quite a lot of damage from trees falling and roads getting washed out, it is still wonderful to see all that moisture and humidity in the air. Not to mention the spectacular thunder and lighting that has come with it.
I know for those of you who live in soggy, er, wet climes, this is no big deal. But, here in New Mexico it is, with so many continuous years being so far below the rainfall that we need.
So, yeah, WE'VE GOT RAIN!
Come join us every week, as a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted!

yay for the rain! We need some too- without any lightning! We live in upper Northern California and the fire danger is higher than usual this year so I know how you feel.
Beautiful photo!
Hooray for the rain!! I know how glad you were to see it -- and feel it!! Great shots for the day, Paula! Enjoy!!
spectacular news! I hope it's not another 10 months that NM goes without rain.
Love your excitement in this post. Good to see that the rain gauge still accepts "visitors". Interesting photos.
I understand what you are saying. We are in a terrible drought in Texas but not as bad as your area.
Not only do you/we have rain, but we also have generous amounts of HUMIDITY! Whew!
we are doing a happy "it rained" dance here today paula. my lawn has been brown and i haven't been able to mow it for a month. the weed are on the only green things on it...but with some friday, yesterday and a heaven opener today...we are on the green mend!! love your shots!!! happy weekend!!!
