E=Mc2

Artwork in a gallery often makes for the coolest shadow shots. Take this one, for example. I see the letter, "E".  And, of course, free association brought on the, 'what begins with E?' prompt. Which then prompted the title of this post (E=Mc2). I offer this explanation just in case you felt a need for it. But, really, in a nutshell, that was the train of thought-more or less.

You know, without shadows, our visual world would seem so much flatter, less dimensional. I think this gives even greater credence to those of us who are, well, obsessive or somewhat obsessive (if you can't seem to get yourself to 'own' it completely). You can read more about what I wrote about specular lighting and it's relation to shadows here.

And, here is a 'I wish I had taken this shot' kind of image from ASAP Science:

I apologize in advance for the time you will spend at their site (it is way cool). I, of course, clicked on their 'subscribe to this channel' option. Totally appeals to the 'geek' in me.

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted!

some of my favourite shadow shots are artworks and sculptures - loving the big E...

The 3-D art pieces seem to allow a true depth of shadow, the artist's intent unknown - the shadows compel us to take a very loooog look at their work...

The wasp-y shadow is very cool. However, I prefer to stay as far away from this insect with its endless capacity for stinging. The artist takes many a risk to create their art...

Intriguing artwork with a shadow bonus! Love the suggestion of ideas beyond the art!

What a great shadow shot! And I love the way your mind works - the title is perfect.

That second one is awesome. Wish I'd thought of that too. And I'm off to check out the links...

(Waaay behind on blog visits this week.)
