'Trophy' Shot

"The eye, when it opens, is like the dawn breaking in the night. When it opens, a new world is there."
-John O'Donohue

Not that this is a winner of a shot, but more so the subject matter. On a desk in my son's closet. His trophies from when he was so much younger and participated in group sports. They must mean something to him if he chooses to present them as a display, is my thought. Took this on my cell phone even though better cameras were available.  I wanted to play with the zoom feature in the camera and editing images in the cell phone camera. Which is what was done here. Since I used the zoom feature but no tripod, even breathing is enough to shake the image and make it blurry.  No matter. It is what it is, right? I am continuing to discover new things each week about the camera in my cell phone (even though I've had this one for 4-5 months now). I was pretty impressed with all that one can do-I am especially inspired by Dewitt Jones and the images he takes on his iPhone (I have Samsung Galaxy III if you're curious). But, in all honesty, I am not easily seduced by fancy bells and whistles. I do know that even with a disposable camera, one can take good pictures. It just takes recognition in knowing that the right moment is in front of you and to act on it.

By the way, Dewitt lives on Molokai for about 6 months out of the year.  Do check out the link to his site-you'll be glad you did!

I like to experiment as well. I just have a mid-priced point and shoot camera! No fancy stuff here.

I like to play with photos on the computer.

Our son still has trophies in his room from soccer when he was young.

Happy shadow seeking this week, Paula!

this is fantastic - the shadows capture the endless motion we see on a basketball court. Driving, defending and shooting the ball is all about the scent - a sort of abstract sporting event on the shelf. Nice capture!
