DIOCHROIC GLASS
(I bought this diochroic glass jewelry from Senye Jewelry at the Idalia Road Marketplace)
Diochroic glass-who isn't enamored by it? It seems to have qualities and properties that are magical!
From Wikipedia:
"Dichroic glass is glass containing multiple micro-layers of metals or oxides which give the glass dichroic optical properties. The main characteristic of dichroic glass is that it has a particular transmitted color and a completely different reflected color, as certain wavelengths of light either pass through or are reflected. This causes an array of color to be displayed. The colors shift depending on the angle of view. Dichroic glass is an example of thin-film optics."
DIANDROUS
(image from backyardnature site)
Diandrous: having two stamens. Admittedly, it is hard to find an image of something with just two stamens! Just two, mind you...this image is of a Chinese privet-a plant that is in the olive tree family.
DIPHTHONG
(image from the chalkboard manifesto by Shaun R. McDonald)
Diphthong: (from Wikipedia): literally "two sounds" or "two tones"), also known as a gliding vowel, refers to two adjacent vowel sounds occurring within the same syllable.
Think, 'die'. Think, 'day'. Think, 'doe'. Think....aw, I think you GET it now!
Did you glide those vowels?
I hope so!
I'm sure that is oversimplifying it. And, of course, you know the image I posted here isn't the true meaning, but a play on words or, concept, really! It was too cute to pass up.
