Long, Large, Languid and Luxurious Shadows at La Fonda

Shadows so beautiful, they look like art, don't they?

A trip up to Santa Fe this week (Linda and I took the Rail Runner train) yielded a nice batch of shadow shots. So that you can savor each one of them, I'll not post them all at once!

Linda was up there a few weeks ago and she had discovered this shadow inside the La Fonda hotel. Being a good friend who keeps a watch out for shadows for her friend, she took me to this treasure. If you are trying to figure out the source of the shadows, what you are looking at is a concrete bench on a landing. Above it, is a huge skylight that has large beams going across it to support it. Behind the bench is a planter full of succulent plants. Extra bonus for shadows from that source too!

Thanks, Linda! U da best!

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2011 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

Wow, this is great! The bench looks like it was painted this way. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you found on your train ride!

I see a flag unfurling - the shadowy stripes seem to undulate in the wind! The illusory art of shadows, we love them! Gotta get to Santa Fe...

The shadow design adds so much drama to this scene! Gorgeous colours in what looks like an impressionist painting!
