One Fine Morning....I Spy (you'll never guess)

Ahhh...those morning walks that I keep intending to do. Well, it seems it's been too long since I have, but when I did, I 'found' these lovelies on my walk:

PANORAMA HEIGHTS EAST, RIO RANCHO

A lovely metal sign that names our neighborhood (although not many refer to our area as this). Still, lovely at any rate. I thought it would be neat to come back in the afternoon and take the opposite shadow so that the words are not backwards, but alas! The  angle of the sun and the block wall does not lend itself to this. You will just have to imagine it.

CURVES

As in, asphalt curves. A detail that many walk right by as it is quite mundane. And, as you may already know, I celebrate the mundane! These curves made for such delicate shadows.

Both images were taken on my handy dandy cell phone which is now considered an 'antique' as it is about 3 1/2 years old now.

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2011 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

A very interesting idea and shot, albeit not quite
what you hoped for, but it works!

It is indeed amazing where we find shadows once we start looking for them! And, yes, I too love your mundane! Hope you have a great weekend, Paula, with lots of love and laughter -- and fun shadows!

The shadowy lettering adds a neat touch to the ordinary neighborhood views. Although I am not that familiar in reading backwards...We think of prosaic items like concrete and asphalt a being perfectly flat, not smooth as glass, but smooth. However, the imperfections that result from paving have a subtle character all their own!

Intriguing perspective of the sign and an unusual shadow tone! Almost as if the shadow has been burnt into the ground! And love the subtle shadows in the textures of the second photo!

These are great! I always enjoy it when folks find shadows in ordinary things. Somehow they don't seem quite so ordinary then!

That sign shadow is magnificent! The curves, subtle and with a very cool texture. Happy SSS.

You had your head down again, or you wouldn't have seen those asphalt shadows!

A SHADOW THE SIZE OF THE SUN

If I had a shadow the size of the sun,
I’m not sure how fast I’d be able to run,
Or if I could flee from its ravenous jaws,
While keeping away from its razor-sharp claws!
