Let There Be Light

...well, let there be RAINBOW light!

And there was. Rainbow light. And, we were pleased.

I have a solar rainbow maker in my dining room window. During a short window of time each day (as long as it is a sunny day), it gathers enough energy to cast moving beams of rainbow light throughout my dining room. If I'm lucky, I happen to be in the right place at the right time when this colorful light does this dance-a waltz if you may, throughout my dining room and on the walls. Quite magical, I say. My friend, Kassie Guzzardi remembered that I mentioned how I wanted one, almost bought one, but delayed. She then cleverly gave it to me for Christmas one year. It is something I truly treasure.

Earlier this week, I came home from running errands and was lucky enough to catch the rainbow tripping the light fantastic in the room. AND, I spy a shadow paired with the rainbow light!! Heart beats faster. Breath becomes rapid. Where is my camera? Stay calm. Retrieved the camera. Tried not to get flustered as these moments can pass as quickly as they come. Great! Got the shot! And, a second later, I went to get my cell phone to use my retro camera ap on it, and the moment was GONE.

A few days later, I came in again about the same time and saw the light again. Except, this time, the band of color was even MORE spectacular!

Oh, me! Oh, my! I am all too pleased to be able to share these with you fellow shadow hunters. If you're reading this and you're not a shadow hunter, perhaps this will have lit the spark within you. And then, you too can join us every week at Shadow Shot Sunday 2!

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2011 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

I would feel blessed to have a rainbow like that visit me!

BOOKISH SHADOWS

Shadow, shadow in my path,
You are not the Grapes of Wrath;

And yet when I hear your hums,
Something Wicked This Way Comes!

May your darkness turn to light
Like The House of Mirth, all right?

May all sadness drift away—
Send Lolita here to play!

The rainbows, be they small or large, are a wonderful addition to any room. There is a feeling of life and love, the proverbial 'pot of gold' at its end. The reward is found in your home, amongst you and your family - more valuable that that pot of gold...Nice!

I love rainbows! And what a terrific shadow shot for the day, Paula! I could surely use one of those around my apartment these days with all the stormy, snowy, rainy, windy days we've had this week!! Your captures warmed me right up! Enjoy your weekend!
