Serenity Now!!!

 We jokingly say that from time to time in our yoga class. Particularly when we find ourselves being too goal oriented and not tuning in to the rest of what is going on within and around us. We don't allow ourselves to sit quietly for a few moments to just observe what is going on within us and to fully engage all our senses in the process. To just breathe!! To just be.

Gateway

Such a dappled quality to this early morning light. A wrought iron gate with chicken wire fencing on it from the previous owner. I think it was to keep the rabbits and perhaps medium to small sized dogs out of her back yard. I don't know if it kept them out, but the early light is a nice way to start the day!

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Hey Harriet. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2010 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

We never seem to learn that to stop and reflect is not a distraction. Our productivity actually increases as we put all things in focus if we slow down and reflect. Putt all things in focus and we can do more. Perhaps just analyzing the situation more fully by slowly looking before leaping...

The shadows seem imposing, the wire to keep things out. However, the sun filters in sextet shadows that are not at all imposing, merely in a beautiful pattern..

IF I HAD A SHADOW

If I had a shadow as big as the sky,
I never would fear, and I’ll tell you why:

My shadow would save me from dragons and things
That fly in the night with terrible wings;

My shadow would keep me away from the beast
That sniffs in the west and sniffs in the east

Hungry for children who play all alone,
Hoping to feast upon blood, upon bone;

My shadow would be my protector and knight
To keep fear at bay, to banish all fright.

I’m so glad my shadow is always nearby,
Though it’s not nearly as big as the sky!
