Ecumenically Eccesiatical

ABC Wednesday is a word meme with participants from around the world. This fabulous meme was created and hosted by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt who hails from Great Britain. Over time, others have joined in to help host this wonderful and informative meme. We are now in our NINTH round! Some of the participants have been with this from the very first round; others have joined in along the way. Each week we are taken across the globe to see the varied and exciting contributions people have taken the time to discover and capture. We start with the letter, "A" and each week we post something in regards to the next letter of the alphabet. This week's letter is, "E".

EWE

I love whimsical things like this! Hobby Lobby (a craft and art supply chain store) provides my cell phone with great entertainment. They're too cute to be anything but ewes. Awww....

EAGLE

Every time I see an eagle (and they are usually representational images), a hymn pops into my head, "On Eagle's Wings". It was my father-in-laws favorite (he passed away on August 1, 1997 from lung cancer). I never really understood the full meaning of that phrase, being raised up on eagle's wings. Until my older (and very nerdy-nerdier than me) brother, Robert Mondoy explained the meaning of this. He said (and perhaps he totally made this up, but I somehow believe him on this particular tidbit of information) that there is an eagle species that lives in the area of Israel that when their young are learning how to fly, if the young eagle doesn't quite have their flying ability under control and starts plummeting to earth, the parent swoops down and saves their young one on their wings. Maybe all eagles do this-I don't know. I haven't challenged my brother on the accuracy of this information because I like the story and it makes the song make more sense to me.

And, there 'ewe' have it!! The letter, "E"!! Enjoy!

Eagles are a great sight to see; lots of them along the Mississippi. All animals fit the letter nicely.

In the Native American traditional teachings that I have learned, the Eagle has a prominent place. The Ojibwe creation story has the Eagle taking what we do and say here on earth up to God as the Eagle can fly higher than any other animal and therefore get closer to God to deliver the messages. I have a song I like by Bill Miller called Faith of a Child. I couldn't find it on YoiuTube, otherwise I'd have sent it to you. The lyrics talk about flying like an Eagle. I can go on forever about what they mean to me.
You and that phone camera. Lucky the Hobby Lobby police didn't catch you, they might think you are a competitor photographing their store! I'm just finding out that I can make adjustments on mine! LOL I had a scare and thought my regular camera was broken. It wouldn't open. Then I charged it.
Great ABC's Paula, keep up the good work.

Peace

Weird: The word verification is anishone
The Ojibwe people in Northern Wisconsinnare known as Anishanabe. Very strange and coincidental?

A cute ewe. I live in a county full of sheep so the tourist and craft shops usually have something sheep related I have to resist buying.
