The Range Cafe has several restaurants in Albuquerque. My favorite location though, is in the area where it originated, in the town of Bernallilo. Always popular, parking can be at a premium at times, so I typically head for their back parking lot (a secret of the locals). As you turn down the alley to park in the rear lot, you see this old abandoned building. My husband always teases me and tells me, "There's your next restaurant." As if I currently had one! Not...
I wish I could peek inside, though just to see what's in there.
I was meeting a friend for lunch, so my camera was not with me. You can guess what I did, right? Yep. Cell phone. The top image is on the regular cell phone, the bottom image is on the retro camera ap (it's free you know). It has 5 retro camera looks in it.Heck if I know which one this is!! I just point and shoot!
Pretty cool.
And the other evening sitting in our patio in our backyard, the light was absolutely captivating.
The evening light was working it's magic and getting geared up for sunset.

Poor Anita's has this closed-permanently-for-business look...
I ONCE HAD A SHADOW
I once had a shadow—or did it have me?
My shadow and I could never agree.
I would say something, she’d say the reverse;
Our arguments flared, my lips I would purse,
Refusing to speak to her anymore—
So my shadow got up and marched out the door!
I have not seen her from that day to this—
That’s one stubborn shadow I surely don’t miss!

Thanks Paula...now we are hungry for mexican food...and we haven't even made it past breakfast yet :) Your shadows are great - LOVE that retro shot!! Awesome!
Oh, yes! I've just had breakfast, but I'm SO ready for some Mexican food! My all time favorite!! Great shadow shots for the day as always, Paula! You're so creative! Enjoy your weekend!

To find interesting and authentic local cuisine, a local would know. The restaurant, in regular or edited in old, looks like a shack. The building says that, the chef says forget the externals - the food is great. And living in New England, authentic southwest/mex food must be captured, undoubtedly in NM...
Lovely patio, nice lighting and a pleasure to relax in, and just outside the back door...
Interesting shots. Too bad Anita's is closed, as I love food.
Anita's is adorable. I hope it doesn't get torn down.
Love your shadow shots. I'm always amazed what people can do with their cell phones. Mine only ever takes pictures of the inside of my purse. I'm getting a new phone and must get someone (my niece or my grandnephew) to show me how to use the phone.

I love the retro shadow shots - they are great!
I bet Anitia's once served great food!
Great series of shadow shots, love the retro look too!
So glad you had your cell phone with you. Those are neat shots of the cafe! The retro is really cool. Your back yard has an inviting look about it. Happy SSS!!
what a great facade - love that second shot...
Anita's has seen it's better days. I wonder what kind of clients used to go in that door...
What fun shadows created here and what a cool, old nostalgic building!
Oh that Anita's looks like a fine establishment! Haha! I can picture it in my head with a fresh coat of paint looking like magic! I love your retro app shots. The things we're able to do with our cell phones is so fun. And so darn handy having them on us at all times. I'd be lost without mine now :)
Got my nacho sallad last Friday evening.
COOL...
HAPPY SSS---
You and that phone. You're giving regular cameras a bad name!
Love Anitas. Great photos. I can just imagine being there for a meal. It looks like it would have been cooked by Anita herself, with love.
That photo of the back yard is beautiful. Is the smoke still a part of everyday life there? I won't be back there until Chile Festival in September, I miss New Mexico!
I was at a family reunion this past weekend and didn't do a shadow shot, but I have some unique ones for the future.
Take care and be well.
Peace
It definitely would be interesting to take a peek inside. :)
Great color in your phone photos!
You gotta professional inside. Its amazing shoot.
