Saved

This is the head of the Corpse of Christ that 'lives' in our church (Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary). It is life sized and made completely from paper mache. In Mexico. It is only out one day of the year and that is Good Friday. I thought It appropo since Sunday is Easter Sunday.

You might think that the image should be rotated 90 degrees for orientation, but the corpse is lying in an open wooden box (resembling a coffin).

This very special crucifix was made by my friend's sister. It is made from found objects near the bosque. The body is a branch and the head is a seed pod of some sort. The branch and the seed pod are of the same thing-in other words, it was found like that. She didn't glue one piece into the other. Genius that she was able to 'see' all of this to put it together.

Pretty dramatic shadow of a Celtic Cross in the shopping mall at Sedona (from my March trip). See? No matter where I am, I am always thinking of you guys!

Technically, this image does not really have a shadow but, I took it because it reminded me of Easter. It's a snippet of one of the set pieces for Ballet Repertory Theater's, "Alice In Wonderland" show.

For those of you who celebrate Easter, have a blessed Easter! For those of you who celebrate Passover, I hope that was blessed too.

You have some wholly (and holy) mysterious shadows here...

EVEN IN SHADOW

Even in shadow where there is no light,
One may take comfort and one may delight
That darkness has lost its power to thrall
Those who are living on this earthly ball.

Each view of Christ shows the agony and death that occurred for our salvation. Grizzly at first glance, the dying Son has the human look that we grieve - yet revere. Happy Easter to you and yours, as the Lord lives for us all...

What great artworks of the image of Jesus. The twig and pod is fascinating! I'll look for that cross next time I visit my brother in Sedona.
Good job as usual Paula. Have a wonderful Easter weekend.

Peace

Really interesting ShadowShots (& non-ShadowShots!). The seedpod Christ is so different, and clever. The paper mache head of Jesus looks as I'd imagine he must have looked. Very touching tradition your church has for Good Friday. Happy Easter to you and yours Paula.
