Take Another Look

Alterations...

Lost in translation....

And re-interpreted...

I have posted all of these shadows previously. Not all in the same posting. Perhaps they look completely new? Although, I suppose that's not entirely fair for me to ask since it has been more than a year that these were posted. I will say that when I posted them, they did not look like this. The difference is that these shadows were printed on special papers-papers that had their own information-papers that I had painted and laid color on to, then printed the shadow shot on it. Then re-photographed it on my cell phone (why? because I love that retro camera ap on it!).

I am merely offering a different way to view the same thing.

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Hey Harriet. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2010 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

Hi Paula. I've been away for a while and it's taken me forever to catch up to everyone.

These shadows are captivating. I didn't see the original posting but I will certainly go looking for them in a bit.

Your process of preparing the paper, printing on it, and then rephotographing it fascinates me. I don't have a smart phone yet but I am getting that when I do get one, it is going to be a lot of fun to play with.

The shadows are rich, and as they fall over the prosaic materials like tile, they seem to change the subject in a way that changes things. Or not? The top view has the look of script, in the second I see a bull with horns. I like the third best of all, the shadowy leaves seem to enhance the material that is of autumn leaf earth tones.

Art is art, we are compelled to view it again and again. Nicely done at any time!

What a great idea! All your time invested in this project was worth the end result.

Very cool stuff, Paula. I am trying to claim some time to work on photos with different apps, but it's been so busy around here. Glad dad is okay for now. Prayers for the people of Japan and others affected and devastated by the earthquake and tsunami.
I just tried a trial for photoshop too.

Peace

I thought it was tie dyed fabric at first. Stunning colour and shade. Great quote!

Oh you clever thing you! I love what you've done here! The last one is my fave! Beautiful work!

You asked about the kookaburra? He's a wild bird who visits regularly (often with a bunch of his mates) to hang out on my deck and score some food from me :)

Wow, Paula! Really interesting technique! I see: 1) tsunami waves remembered in a cave drawing, 2)a lobster coming in on a wave against a brick wall, 3)reflections of leaves against beautiful violet fabric. Your creativity knows no bounds! So exciting!
Did your coast get any waves? Japan was so devastated: I pray and hurt for them, and I also pray for Hsawaii that you will always remain safe. Love
