Scathing Solliloquies Seems Silly

ABC Wednesday is a word meme with participants from around the world. This fabulous meme was created and hosted by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt who hails from Great Britain. Over time, others have joined in to help host this wonderful and informative meme. We are now in our seventh round-some of the participants have been with this from the very first round; others have joined in along the way. Each week we are taken across the globe to see the varied and exciting contributions people have taken the time to discover and capture. We start with the letter, "A" and each week we post something in regards to the next letter of the alphabet. This week's letter is, "S".

SCAT

Scat. No, not as in the jazz singing style (which is improvisational), not as in, 'shoo' or 'scoot', but as in animal poop. For us humans, it's something that we get rid of asap once out, and down it goes to the land of watery and unpleasant unknowns. But, in the animal kingdom, it serves many purposes; a communication device, so to speak, full of information. Read up on the square shaped wombat scat that I've provided a link for. Fascinating (and a really great video clip).

SNOW SHOES

As romantic in appearance these are, I think I'd rather have the modern day version of them. I think. I'm no snow shoe expert, so don't take my word for it. If Joe Spadoman reads this blog, he might be able to pipe in a word of advice or two as I believe he says that he makes them. Although, he did not make these. This pair resides in my friends garage.

SAMWISE

My sister, Teresa, who lives in Hilo, Hawaii is the owner of this cutey-pie. He is more grown up now, but his name is: Samwise! Sorry to have 'cut' his ears off in this photo, but I had to grab the shot before he came forward to get some pats on his head!

SALAD

"Who made the salad?" Well, I did! This was good enough to eat and sitting here now looking at the image, I wish I could have it right now! I will say that it was scrumptious.

I do think you win the prize for the most unusual S post. Fascinating learning about scat and your salad looks yummy. Not fair looking at this at lunch time. My tummy's growling.

I suppose the scat won't scat on its own, will it?

Now, that was a mixture of many "S"s. I think I'll settle for the salad ;-)

Lovely S post! I like the information about the scat! Very interesting.
Was Samwise named after the Hobbit who went together with Frodo to the mountains to destroy the Ring?
Thanks for sharing your post!

Think I prefer scat singing, although it is one way of tracking down which shy creatures are around, if only they sang from the riverbank, or have I seen too many Disney films.
I would love to have a go on snowshoes and maybe take a cute dog along:-)I live vicariously by watching the survival expert Ray Mears showing on TV how to make them, never know when that type of knowledge might come in handy:-0
Super post.
BTW yes you are right lots of Goldsworthy work all around my county.

Well, I happen to have some information about snowshoes. Funny part about it is that when I had my shop/studio in Silver City, I made snowshoes there. People laughed as the climate in Silver City, NM is not exactly snow country. But with my love of road tripping, I'd wander up towards Taos and into Colorado to sell them.
HERE is a post from my blog about the kind I make.
In the meantime, that salad does look good, and that doggy is the cutest ever! And you are so right about learning so much from animal scat, but I do like the musical scat a little better.
Hope all is good with you. Great post as usual.

Peace.
