QUEEN Liliuokalani

QUILL
Quills. Now, that's certainly a thing of the past! Most people I'm sure would not even know that quills were used for writing. When we were little, my brothers and I liked to pretend that were were growing up in Abe Lincoln's day and thought it exciting to write with quills by candlelight. Kinda kooky, huh?
QUATREFOIL
Quatrefoil-I didn't know what it was until I stumbled upon this word, looked it up, then did the quest for an image. During the quest, I kept thinking,"Where have I seen this in my everyday life before?". Good grief! My hallway mirror, that's where!

Queue. Most people know this word as in being 'queued in line". But it is also a pigtail-really, a Manchurian hair style. Read up on the link I've provided. It is really fascinating how it was used by the Chinese. I had no idea!

Good Q words.
ROG, ABC Wednesday
A wide and interesting variety of "q's."
Great words and my first to hear them and with picture that is awesome. Happy Wednesday!
ABC Wednesday~Q
Wonderful Q words, and full of good information.
Some great Qs there! I knew about the hairstyle - pirates used to dip theirs in tar to keep their hair out of the rigging and such like. But the quatrefoil is a real find, especially since you have one at home!
On behalf of the team, thanks for taking part in ABC Wednesday this week! :)
Quacking post for this week!

I do like the design of the quatrefoil.
Quatrefoil: I didn't know until now, Thanks.
My grand dad was 14, when the queue was abolished.
Great choices, Paula!
I really enjoyed the post.
Well done!
Mine is here
Happy Sensational Wednesday!

Very good post.
The articles about China are very interesting. Imagine considering someone to be loyal by their garb and their hairstyle. Seems like that would be an easy one to fool the authorities.
I remember an old movie, Spencer Tracy, Roger's Rangers. They painted a large "X" on the Native Indians to recognize the ones that were helping them against the French as opposed to those Indians that were helping the French.
So, if I dress in a suit, do you think the government will think I'm one of them?
Place smile here------>_________
Peace.
Only quintessential Q-words here. And Quality!
Best wishes,
Anna

I too remember as a child finding feathers and attempting to sharpen and write with them, never very sucessfully, and not as much fun as having them in your hair and pretending to roam the plains of north america.
Love the mirror.
Always find interesting items on your posts and this is one is no exception! Excellent Q's.
Great set of Q words with some fascinating reading.
Hope your week is going well.
What a great post you wrote! Interesting story about QUEEN Liliuokalani! Thank you for your visit to Qantas( almost everybody wrote Quantas, but it is Qantas). It is a safe company.
