I just came back from a wonderful,long weekend trip down to the southwest regions of this state. Namely, Silver City and Truth or Consequences. I took lots and lots of wonderful, colorful, artsy kinds of images. I am anxious to post some of them, but for some quirky reason, felt compelled to start off with this one.
It's a window on the side of a Dairy Queen in Truth or Consequences (aka T/C). I think it is closed, but the broken glass paired with the lace-seems... I don't know. Odd.
I almost imagine it to be a bullet hole (I doubt that it is as there is no entry point in the glass).
T/C is a town full of natural hot springs that are just at the right temperature. Waters that are quite healing and soothing. But, what really jars my senses is the absolute funkiness about this place. Most of the lodging consists of old motor lodge hotels converted into some semblance of B&B's. There are some pretty cool art galleries here and a couple of nice eateries. Just don't visit on a Sunday or Monday as most everything is CLOSED!
The locals are up in their years (or, at least they look like it). Throwbacks from the '60's or '70's. Many look like former 'druggies' perhaps some still are, who knows. It is truly a Twilight Zone kind of experience!
I promise to post some other images of T/C. Truly a very funky town. I have no other words for it! I did enjoy myself whilst I was there; just for the record.
