Thankful for the Mundane

Let us give thanks to the mundane things in our lives...

Yes, we should give thanks to those things that we overlook from day to day.

For the weeds in my yard that take pleasure in undermining all my hard work. For it is when the task is done and I am tired and exhausted from getting rid of the weeds that I am able to step back and appreciate the fruits of my labor. Even if they do return again and again. For we must be reminded again and again to appreciate that which is the most mundane things in our lives. Doing laundry. Cleaning the house. Washing the dishes. Cleaning up the messes and putting things away. Commuting to work. Getting stuck in traffic because you are commuting to work. Your camera battery dying on you and you have no back up. Oh yes, even cleaning out the stinky kitty litter boxes.

These are the things that we forget to be thankful for! But, we should. Having weeds in my yard means that I have a yard. Doing laundry means that I have enough clothing to have to launder them instead of only having to wear what is on me. And that I am lucky enough to have a camera to take this lovely photo with.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! And don't forget to celebrate the mundane!

Gasoline. I listed this yesterday on a friend's blog, when she asked for a day to day thing for which we were grateful. Gasoline came to mind, despite the price - I'd rather have it at $2.40 a gallon than be unable to get it. My Jeep gets 15 mpg - I'd love to pay less, but nevertheless, I can fill up my gas tank anytime I want.

Great post!
