It's not too often that I'm on this part of 4th St. in Albuquerque, but whenever I am, I am tormented by the fact that I don't have my camera with me to take a picture of this wonderful church (Our Lady of Kazan Monastery).
So, my most 'recent' trip to that area, I thought I was clever enough because I did bring my camera with me and I planned to photograph this on the way home when the light was at it's best. All I got was this ONE shot. Failed the "Girl Scout" test that day as my battery went kaput.
But, I guess, one shot was enough. It will have to do for now. The bonus is that I have a nice shadow of the light pole in the mural on the church. I'm good with that.
Thanks to everyone on the well-wishing earlier this week. I am on the 'other side' of the flu (yes, it was the dreaded flu that the media loves to sensationalize) and almost feel my 'normal' self again. It's nice to have all that positive energy coming my way!
The title for today's post is inspiration from the Fortune cookie that came with my lunch. I think that the journey of that discovery is an on-going one, isn't it? Sometimes it's in high gear and sometimes many jump starts are needed. Ebbing and flowing. Learning to be patient with yourself and others as we are all students here and teachers.
Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Hey Harriet. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted!
You can also view all Shadow Shot postings I've done by scrolling all the way down and on the left side you will see an archive of labels for my posts. Look for Shadow Shot Sunday and click on that link for an "all you can view" buffet of shadow shots!

Truer words were never spoken...though a healthy dose of vitamin D helps to keep the bugs away...what a beautiful church and lucky catch with the light pole...I'm diggin' the brilliance of the sun...is it warm too??? A chilly day in Iowa today, but the sun is just peeking through...yayyy...
Glad to hear your flu is in the past.
The mural on this church is marvelous! And the shadow is nice too. Yes, I think I would want to photograph is myself if I could.
Glad you're feeling better! I love the mural on the church! Good shadow, too!
Stay well, have a great day!

glad to hear you are feeling better...nasty flu anyway!! love the mural and the shadow that you have captured!!
What a gorgeous mural--thanks for sharing! Glad you're over that "bug"--happy and healthy new week!
fantastic mural!
good to hear you've recovered. have a great week.
A lovely capture of this wall of art. The Russian style dome is impressive and a unique addition to the ABQ area. The shadow sits below the bright and lively wall - the brightness of life is greater than the shadows!
To bad about the batteries. In the old days I used a manual K1000, and if the battery for the exposure meter went dead, you just knew the right settings anyhow. Thankfully, you got a stunning capture!
what a beautiful shot... and you're right one shot is all that is needed..
I love the murals that have been painted on buildings around the country in recent years.
Glad you caught a shadow so you had a reason to share it today.
very nice shadow shot, it's a beautiful mural. Glad you're recovering from the flu...
What a lovely place and you did a great job with the shadow. My batteries always fail when I find just the right shot. Now I carry a bunch with me.
Glad you are feeling better. I read an interesting article about putting onions around, in the house. Will send you the article. Very interesting.
Have a great week. Happy SSS.
I love this wonderful shot of the church mural. And aren't you lucky that someone stuck a pole there for your shadow!
The lamp shadow looks like an intrinsic part of the mural! Wonderful mix of colour on that mural!
Love it! That shadow is a perfect addition to that lovely mural!
I'm sorry to hear that you've been sick. Haven't been online much this week so I wasn't aware. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Relax and take things xo
It is a good shot that works well
You captured a wonderful shadow on that beautifully painted wall it almost mimics the crown on top of the church. Be well :)
Good thing you have your camera that time, great shot!
Here's my first Shadow Shot Sunday
Super photo!
We love the color and the details of this mural - perfect!
I love your one lucky shot! And that pretty mural looks great with an added light post!
I hope you have a great week ahead!

I am so far behind - I had no idea you were sick and so glad you are better. This is a fabulous church - I wish it were more accepted to paint buildings this way. Our courthouse is quite ugly and needs a facelift. A few positive vibes for the folks entering & leaving.
Take care & stay well!
xoxo
