You've probably heard many lists already of the "Best Of 2013". Top 50 tunes. Best places to eat. Top ten movies, the ten most interesting people of 2013 (according to Barbara Walters). And so on and so on...
In my Sunday morning yoga class, our teacher, Chris always reads an excerpt from a book that has great spiritual things to meditate on. Last week, she decided to read the most requested reading. I thought I would share it with you all today, this still being the start of the New Year:
"...do you really want to be happy? Just pay attention and be kind, unconditionally kind, on this breath alone. Forget about the future. Just this breath. No matter what the circumstances, just be kind. Friend, lover, family member, someone who seems to hate you, someone you've never met on the street, your own soft animal body. Just be kind, in whatever way is appropriate. Everything else will work itself out, and you will begin to sense your own Pure Heart everywhere. How amazing.
Very simple. Just be kind.
Only on this breath."
written by Scott Morrison from the "Tao of Now" (daily wisdom from Mystics, Sages, Poets and Saints) by Josh Baran.
Nothing could be simpler, could it?
