Dear Mother of God
Watch over us and guide us
Comfort and heal us
Without a doubt, a New Mexico painting depicting Our Lady, since the church in the painting is the San Xavier church here in Albuquerque.
This is the altar-screen at our parish, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on Christmas Eve. The altar-screen is a 'replica' that was built about 8 years ago by parishioners They built it to match the original which had disappeared in a church remodel in the '60's. They worked from photographs. It was a labor of love and getting it installed in our church was interesting as it is a massive and tall piece!
Join us on this journey of the
twelve days of mornings with Mary.
everyone is invited.
while this is not about religion, it is about sharing,
about opening hearts, rejoicing in ultimate mother love.
it is about light, beauty, inspiration, thoughtful regard.
a welcome chance to begin each new day together
in beauty and peace.

I love this painting and the church. So much beauty. Thank you.
The San Xavier painting looks dimensional--like maybe partially done in padded fabric. Is it? Your church altar at Christmas is lovely, too.

The painting takes me back to my days of teaching on the rez. A wondrous interpretation of the Virgin and those over whom she watches!
What a joyous and all-encompassing mural for the church to now have. Perfect for our southwest culture!
truly a labor of love! how exquisite for the congregation to come together in restoring such a strength of beauty and devotion.
your blessed are you to call this your church home.
