As I write this, I am back in Hawaii for my dad's 80th birthday on the 31st which will be held on Molokai. Thursday morning-my first day here, I attended the annual Red Mass held at the Cathedral of Our Lady Of Peace. My brother, Robert Mondoy was the cantor at this mass. This mass is held the week that Hawaii's State Legislation Session begins. It has been a long standing tradition.
This book was on the table in the waiting area that I was in when my son had surgery on his arm last Saturday. I took the image from my cell phone, but how cute is that? A children's book about shadows...
Living here in the Southwest, I would be negligent for not including an image that symbolizes the days of the old west; the wagon wheel. This one is on Canyon Road in Santa Fe.
Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Hey Harriet. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted!

oh my gosh...that book is awesome...hope the surgery went well.
ReplyDeleteThe cathedral is stunning, the place of worship full of the artistry that is from the God-given talents of the architects. You'd think that there would be volumes written about shadows, but (alas) there doesn't seem to be. The shadow of the stagecoach harkens back to the day when this was 'luxury' travel - I'll stick with the turbulence with today's style of transit, and no dust thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic shots for the day, Paula! Magnificent capture in the cathedral! Happy Birthday to your Dad! Love the book about shadows! Hope your son is doing well! The stagecoach shot is terrific! Hope you enjoy your time in Hawaii!

Wheels with spokes make such lovely shadows. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteLove the wheel shot and it's truly a shot of the wild West...I dragged one all the way back to Iowa from Colorado, it was a Conestoga wheel...HEAVY...well, I had to have a reminder of the state I loved...and I still have it today.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your Dad and well wishes for your son!!! Enjoy that sunshine in the islands!
Happy 80th Birthday to your father!Excellent shadow post! Just love the coach wheel shadows. That book is very cool. Hope your boy is doing okay.
ReplyDeleteI hope your father has the most wonderful birthday - what a milestone. It must have been a privilege to hear your brother sing at the Red Mass. We have a similar tradition here in Australia for the beginning of the law year, so I guess it's universal.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your dad!
ReplyDeleteThat book made me smile...
Happy SS weekend,
