A Bright Star Amongst the Shadows

Amongst the shadows of the forest floor, a beauty arises.

You don't have to be big to be bright or noticed. Or flashy. This little mushroom is smaller than a dime on the forest floor amongst so many branches and leaves. However, Mother Nature did decide that being a different color from what's around it would make it stand out. How can something so small and delicate be so beautiful, I wonder? And, it only appears after the rains. I wish I knew more about these delicate little things. Mushrooms are in the fungus family, that I know. And that mushrooms contain no chlorophyll and most are considered saprophytes-in other words, they obtain their nutrition from metabolizing non living organic matter.

I just think they are a marvelous work of art!

Join us as a group of us (yes-there are many of us!) from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted!
