Daddy's Pancake

Park benches can make for lovely and unexpected shadows-not to mention that it is a wonderful invitation to sit down and take a load off your feet!

I was making some pancakes last night (so that my boys would have them in the morning-knowing that I wouldn't have time to make them then). Funny, how every single time I make pancakes I flashback to my childhood days on Molokai-growing up in our house in Kalae. Sunday mornings. I have 4 brothers and a younger sister-she is 10 years younger than I. I don't know how all of us fit in one car to go to church every Sunday morning. I can't even remember our 'seating' arrangements! But, we'd head off to the 7:30 am mass in Kualapuu. After we got home, preparing breakfast would take place. We often had pancakes and my dad and my brothers would go off and deliver the newspapers while the food was being made. They'd be done and home by the time everything was ready. The last pancake I'd make would be the biggest one of them all-mostly because there wouldn't be enough batter to make two more, so I opted to make one big pancake to use up the remaining batter. That pancake was reserved for Daddy. It was Daddy's pancake-and he was the one who would eat it.

So many years later, to this day, I find myself still making that last pancake the largest and I find myself thinking in my head and in my heart how that pancake would be Daddy's pancake.

Join us as a group of us (yes-there are many of us!) from around the world post our shadow shots over at

Lovely memories and a lovely shadow. I like trying to guess and I was totally off with this one. Of course once you see the source, it's obvious. :)

Pancakes, of course. Still a treat today, as the always lovely Patti offers pancakes for 3 (or 4 when our son visits :) and they are still delicious even at my age! Patio furniture makes for cool shadows...

The first two shadows are very nicely captured and the Pancake has left a 'lasting impression' :)
