The Truth

"You are the truth from foot to brow.
Now, what else do you want to know?"

Simple and truth often go hand in hand.

Reflecting on a trip home to Molokai this past week-a journey that takes all day and at least three airplanes. It all seems so surreal as we gathered to say goodbye to my cousin who left this world unexpectedly and abruptly. But, the truth is, if you had to pick a way to go, I would pick her way-just not so young, please-in her sleep. She left unannounced, quietly, no pain-so peacefully. In the midst of our pain, this is what we look to in order to come to terms with learning how to go on without her in our lives. She touched everyone's heart who had the pleasure to meet her and know her. Molokai is a small island, mind you-the receiving line at the service wrapped around the block. I think there was easily 400 people or more at the reception afterwards as we celebrated her life. What a legacy she left-and raised 3 generations of children at her daycare at home.

But, do you know what she is most remembered for? Always laughing and smiling-radiating pure joy.

Makes one wonder what kind of legacy one will leave when they're gone. I hope to do at least half as well.

Oh, my gosh-I nearly forgot. It's the first day of spring (well, it is as I type this). Have a joyous spring equinox!

In the meantime, join us as a group of us (yes-there are many of us!) from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted!

This is a lovely tribute to someone who made the world brighter and sunnier - every day. Not an act, just a wonderful person just because. The views from below show a winged conveyance heading toward heaven, those from above show us paradise, from heaven. I prefer to see the uplifting look at a passing - it reaffirms my faith in the heavenly and one true God...

I feel for your grief having experienced such a loss. But her grace that she imparted on so many people is something for which I am striving.
The photos left me dizzy, almost as if I were beside you in the plane.

It's never easy to say goodby to someone we love. It sounds like your cousin was well loved. The way she left was difficult but not harder than watching someone suffer as we work through our idea of losing them.

Even though you share sad news, I can hear notes of joy in what you write. Strange how life can be bittersweet at times...
