Our Lady of Guadalupe at Chimayo: Day 5

Our Lady of Guadalupe at Chimayo © Paula Scott Molokai Girl Studio

I must admit that a cloudy day in fall is the most perfect day to be at the Santuario de Chimayo. The light, the colors and the leaves were so perfect when I was here last month. I feel so privileged and honored.

The belt that you may have noticed on images of Our Lady of Guadalupe signifies pregnancy. Her blue-green mantle was the color reserved for the divine couple Ometecuhtli and Omecihuatl [36]. (Wikipedia)

A tradition that has gone on for many years now-where a group of bloggers (and anyone is welcome to join) will post for the first 12 days of December images that represent the Mother of Jesus. It ends on the Feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Some will write amazing words of inspiration and prayer. Others tell a story. Often, the image alone conveys the message and that is enough.
Come see what others have shared over at Rebecca's page. Feel free to join in with us whether if it's for one day or all 12!

I will never ever forget my own visit to Chimayo many years ago. I apprerciate learning of the symbology in Mary's clothing and connections, too. So glad to be reconnected with you these 12 fays.

Beautiful! Interesting about belt. In the old goddess religions the girdle or belt had great significance
