Seeing Red

Sun Dried Apples © Paula Scott Molokai Girl Studio

I never thought apples drying in the sun like this could look so organized and symmetrical! This image is from the very same window as last week's image, just on the other side of the room. How glorious it must be to have all that sunshine spilling into your home everyday like this. By the way, they were very tasty...

Red Marble © Paula Scott Molokai Girl Studio

This "Red Marble" image made it into an annual online photo contest called, "Color It Red". About 64 photographers entered a total of 257 images. 29 photographers were juried in with a total of 36 images that will be up for the remainder of the year at the virtual gallery. When you enter these contests, you never know what images to submit (in trying to second guess the judging) and what images, if any, will make it in. I am always surprised at what makes it in and what doesn't in regards to what I enter.

I hope you check out what made it in and share your thoughts with me. I was kind of surprised at the Juror's Choice (and trust me, I don't think mine was worthy of that award). Art is subjective and we all have our thoughts and opinions. I'd love to hear your reactions to the images that got juried in. It has become quite an annual competition. I find myself looking forward to it. I love 'seeing red', so it makes me think about looking for red. I now find myself on the hunt for unusual and unexpected red when I'm out and about. Sort of like being a shadow sleuth!

Now, do I have you seeing red?    : )

Come join us every week, as a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted!

I really liked your red shot and comments about the contest. Perhaps, I will be looking for that spot of red to bright my photos, too.

red is beautiful when it stands out. we have several cardinals that stand out in the monochromatic doldrums of winter. the apples made for very cool shadows...happy weekend!!!

I haven't dried fruit in the backyard in ages. Your photo inspires me. I'm going to do it again this summer.

Your submission is so artistic - it looks as if it could resemble many things, although to me it looks like the green moon circling the red planet with an abstract set of rings far unlike the rings of Saturn. It is a fine work of art - I'd judge yours as the winner :)

I'll be seeing more red, just as I look for shadows too!

Love your entry..red brings so much life to a photo.

the Juror's Choice winner is a fantastic photo.

(Can't say I've ever dried fruit)

Blessed are those of us who live in arid climates, where drying apples in the sun is possible! (Just imagine trying to do this in Seattle!)

There are lot of nice, good photos but what is the goal? To shoot a good photo or make it by editing?
It's totally different to shoot a good picture and not manipulate it than play with photoshop. You agree?
Your picture is a photograph. The winner is manipulated picture. (It's beautiful but...)
For me it's time to go out - it's a sunny day again! Bye!

I still get thrilled at the art we find in nature. I'm off to check out the juried art.

@ BLOGsite: I agree! it didn't seem right that a composite that was digitally manipulated would get the Juror's Award.

Good morning Paula, I am trying to build the Mondays with Mary into a bigger group - maybe you would consider joining in with your wisdom and skill? I am starting today, blessings
