It's a Gift To Be Simple and a Gift To Be Free

"Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving."

― W.T. Purkiser

(bread basket at The Artichoke Restaurant in Albuquerque)

I am so glad to have stumbled upon this powerful quote. It's true, isn't it? So simple, yet so true. My mother always said that, "actions speak louder than words" and I think that this is a commission that requires daily renewal.

One that I gladly accept and can only hope to do well.

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2011 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account.

And now the bread is only the shadow of a memory...

I love your shadow! But I hate proving I'm not a robot. The photo one is always hard for me to see since it's blurred. last time commenting, sorry

Our actions do not speak loudly if we use them for boasting and self aggrandizing - no, our actions are to be quiet and only meant to fo right. For no reward other than what is right is also satisfying in and of itself...the bread looks so good sitting there as a delicious apéritif while we converse and wait for our meal...

The basket casts a dramatic, defined shadow pattern! The bread looks so tempting too!

Oh yes, wise words.
Nowadays people seem to be this or that happy/thankful etc. but no action.
Sometimes even 'thank you' is too much action!
Happy Sunday!

The quote is more food for thought than the basket of bread is food for the body. A good quote to commit to memory.
