Floating, Watery Worlds

Fall is definitely in the air-that bit of a chill in the early morning and at night. Much like that red flare shot up in the dark night sending a warning that more is on the way. Nevertheless, it is still my favorite time of year. The light during the day takes on a special quality-it is warm and golden, yet with a sharpness and clarity at the same time. Everything seems to be more in focus than usual. And I love how this golden light has a lingering quality about it.

Floating Leaf

I say to you-don't be in such a hurry all of the time. I noticed this leaf walking back to my car after finishing up my stop at Target. There was a pool of water against the curb and this leaf was floating there with some other debris. The water had enough oil floating on the surface from the asphalt, giving it a unique reflective property. I happened to like the weird shadow cast by the leaf floating in this murky stuff.

Stuff like this is easy to miss if you're always in a hurry to get from point "A" to point"B".

Pool Shadows

I guess while I'm doing shadows in relation to water, I'll add this one to the mix too. It's the swimming pool at my brother's home. The shadow cast is from the roof line of the patio cover and the second story of the home. It really is an abstraction, isn't it?

I continue to celebrate the mundane!

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2011 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account.

The water in a puddle or pool is so nice, as it allows the shadows to dissipate in enjoyable and artistic ways. The leaf is a reminder that the warmer days are likey to cease soon, but the colors and foliage give os a warm look to these das!

You never know what you will see if you just look around you..I also love celebrating the mundane.

To think one would find beauty in a puddle in a parking lot! Wow.

Nicely photographed.

Leaves are falling here. However, none this pretty. They are falling due to being dried before their time due to the intense heat we had.

I agree that autumn is a beautiful season but my favorite one is spring. There's nothing better than feeling of a new life in the air... :)
Sunny greetings from Málaga!

Nice one. You've combined my two passions perfectly: autumn (fall for you guys) and photography. Great images. And you're right, autumn has that magical early, morning chill which I love.

Greetings from London.
