Fetching Five Fuzzy Fezzes For Frank's Fiasco

ABC Wednesday is a word meme with participants from around the world. This fabulous meme was created and hosted by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt who hails from Great Britain. Over time, others have joined in to help host this wonderful and informative meme. We are now in our ELEVENTH round with 'Captain Roger' at the helm! Some of the participants have been with this from the very first round; others have joined in along the way. Each week we are taken across the globe to see the varied and exciting contributions people have taken the time to discover and capture. We start with the letter, "A" and each week we post something in regards to the next letter of the alphabet. This week's letter is, "F".

FLUSHED

We got 'flushed' this summer! My husband woke up one morning and went out to our front yard, came back in and declared that there was a toilet in our front yard. You 'pay' (a donation) to take it away. For a bit extra, you can have a friend flushed. For a wee bit more, you can buy 'insurance' to not get flushed again! It was an ingenious fundraiser activity that a family came up with. Their son came down with cancer at the age of 8  years old. Thankfully, he is a survivor and a healthy teenager.

FOSSIL

Some days, I swear, this is what I feel like!

FIRE HYDRANT

I think I took this image inside an old fire station that now serves as a museum (most likely the one in Denver). I don't think I could make an outdoor shot look like this without monkeying around in Photoshop and I didn't on this image, so I can only conclude that it was taken indoors which would mean that it was at that museum.

FIBER ARTS

My friend, Donna Barnitz is a fiber artist. Which, of course, means that many of HER friends are too. Fringe benefit for me as I was asked if I wanted to do a scarf swap. You make 10 scarfs that are identical. You hand them in to the host of the event (in this case, it was Donna) and then you got back 10 other scarves in return. Pretty cool, huh? I'm not a fiber artist, so I kind of 'winged' my way through this (I was determined to be a proud owner of 10 new scarfs). The one I made is the bright green on on the right hand side with the big blue polka dots.

Too much fun!

and now, for the obscure (at least I think it is!)....

FELUCCA

(image from Wikipedia)

Feluccas are still an active means of transport in the Nile, these wooden masted ships were used in the past in protected waters in the Red Sea, the Mediterranean and Malta. They hold up to 10 passengers in addition to 2 or 3 crew members.

Quite frankly, I am surprised at how many 'obscure' words I've found that are names of sailing vessels. Who knew...

I don't think I would like the honor of being 'flushed'. Just ask me for the money. But then I am funny old fossil!

The flushed idea is so funny and an inventive method to raise money. The purple toilet is a hoot. All the shots and words are great for F and I love your friends fiber creations.
