CALLING COUNTLESS CONTANKEROUS CHICKENS CRAZED!

ABC Wednesday is a word meme with participants from around the world. This fabulous meme was created and hosted by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt who hails from Great Britain. Over time, others have joined in to help host this wonderful and informative meme. We are now in our ELEVENTH round with 'Captain Roger' at the helm! Some of the participants have been with this from the very first round; others have joined in along the way. Each week we are taken across the globe to see the varied and exciting contributions people have taken the time to discover and capture. We start with the letter, "A" and each week we post something in regards to the next letter of the alphabet. This week's letter is, "C".

CERAUNICS

(image from cybercityradio site which is really a Popular Science image)

Ceraunics:  "a thunderbolt, thunder and lightning [that which branch of physics which deals with heat and electricity, and their phenomena].

Here in the southwestern section of New Mexico there is a long term art installation called, "The Lightning Field". Conceptualized and created by artist, Walter De Maria. I've never seen it, but I know it's pretty darned cool. These rods are all the same size and placed precisely in the ground at precises distances from each other. All meant to maximize their ability to attack lightning. And, those who partake in ceraunics.

To get there, you need to book a trip there. It involves meeting up with the host of a B & B who has been given permission and access to run this form of commerce. From the agreed upon meeting place, the host then takes you to the B & B-I've heard that you are blindfolded so that you do not know how to get thee on your own. I suppose they confiscate your cell phones too since all of the smartphones have GPS trackers in them. Anyway, you stay overnight  and they feed you well and then the next day you get taken out to the lightning filed and I think they let you walk around in it. I've met someone who has done this and they said it was well worth the experience. It doesn't cost gobs of money, but you do have to plan ahead.

I say, add this to your 'bucket' list!

CHICKEN

No explanation needed for chicken-we all know what that is! But, I thought you'd enjoy something fun and whimsical to look at!

CLOUD

This is more like cloud nine! It's odd to be above the clouds-and on a flight to Hawaii is when I usually get this kind of view since we are high enough (I head out on August 6th and will be on Molokai from the 8th-15th, so although I will post to ABC, it will be later in the day due to the time difference and I'm not sure I'll be able to go visit everyone).

So, stay cool. Stay calm. Chew on cut up cucumbers. Clap crazily and constantly. AND...

C U later!

It's amazing to see lightning, but it's scary, too. Love the chicken but would rather eat it! lol Have a great time in Hawaii & see you next week.

Shouldn't people who partake in ceraunics be called "ceraunauts?" ;-) My story this week is called Culmen ’79.

Have a wonderful trip Paula. Wish I was going too.
Fascinating information about the lightening field.
I would think it would be scary but a photographers paradise.

Well we had some Ceraunics last night and since my house was struck by lightning some years ago, I am afraid of thunder and lightning. Have a great Thursday. Thanks for this post!

That lightning field seems really cool! I think you're right; I might need to add it to my list.
