The Old Gate

My fascination with gates, doors, windows-really all portals to somewhere, is never ending.

And, this one, pleases my muse in particular. Yes, I've taken liberties with the interpretation of it, but having more so to do with the color tones rather than a complete alteration.

It speaks of antiquity. It speaks of comings and goings. It speaks of staying in. It speaks of keeping out.

I took this image a while back-on one of my many outings up to Santa Fe. But, please don't ask me to take you right to this very spot where I took this image, because THAT I do not remember. It was a fleeting moment for me-an impulse based on instinct.

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2011 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

The gate looks massive, almost like an iron gate on an olde world castle from centuries ago. Yet, this must be made of wood as it hangs on adobe walls that aren't that old, as this is Santa Fe, but old and classic in its style. So beautiful, and the shadows wafting about add such lovely character to the scene. Beautiful capture!
