A Window to the Past

A Chacoan window from Chaco Canyon...

I never get enough of Chaco Canyon. Fortunately, it's only a 3 hour drive from my doorstep-and a spectacular drive  at that. The way in which the walls are built are linked to the era in which they were built. The earlier walls were not as tight and uniform, but still a masonry wonder. The styles have different names, but I do not know them off hand. But, you can stop by this site to find out more about the masonry styles. If you are ever planning to drive through the area of the four corners region of New Mexico, definitely include time to stop by Chaco Canyon. It is an archeological wonder.

Easter Cross

This being Easter week, I thought I'd post a shadow shot that fit the theme. Although this really isn't a cross, the shadow is-this is the menagerie of shadows outside my dining room window. There is a wrought iron trellis that frames the window and that, along with wind chimes, plants, etc. is what made for this composition!

Have a Blessed Easter (if you celebrate it).
"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2011 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

The old home is remarkable - built to last, as the walls testify, and they seem to have been constructed with barely any mortar. But like all dwellings, ignore the roof and it is uninhabitable. But lovely to see the past...the Easter cross is wonderful, a soft look at what Easter really means, the death of our savior - sad yet happy at the same time. Happy Easter to you and yours!

Love how the shadow of one item suggests other objects! The second photo is very clever! The first photo of the old walls is so intriguing! Such amazing character!
