And the winner is....

I took this image on Tuesday, April 17th at 9:16 a.m.-the day of the run off election for Rio Rancho City Council District 4. My husband, Mark Scott was a candidate in this election and he had been working tirelessly, non-stop in the weeks coming up to the run off (and with the initial election that was on March 6th too). When I took this image (because it made for an interesting shadow shot), there was no way to predict what the out come of the election would be.

It was a suspense filled day. And, a very long one for my husband since he chose to be near one of the polling places from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (crazy, if you ask me!) to answer questions. By 7:20 that evening, he got the call. He won. It's still sinking in. It is hard to run against the incumbent on a shoestring budget. It takes a bit of insanity along with courage and commitment to enter into something like this. Trust me, it's not for the money and it's not for power.
But, I am very proud of him and his accomplishments. Not once did his campaign go negative-it was a choice that we both made from the start-a vow to not go negative.
I know the next 4 years will present a lot of challenges for him and for both of us, but we'll get through it one day at a time. I know too, that I will have even less of husband than I have in the past, but I also know that he is a good man for the job.

Cool! Congrats to your hubby (and you as well, since you are the lady behind the man). I always hate when opponents drag out the dirty tricks...either party. Even better that you won on a shoestring budget. Happy SSS!

Congrats to Mark for his win - a win that was based on the issues and his ideals for those he represents. To compete with honor, the work leading to this win an example of his desire to help all constituents. A wonderful look at electoral politics and a refreshing change to the sniping we see these days..Admiration for the new office holder and his campaign assistant!
