Why Don't You Write Me?

(taken at the Rio Rancho USPS)

While leaving the post office one afternoon, I had to stop and get out my cell phone to capture these tiles 'imprisoned' by the window shadow. I think my stopping to photograph the ground in the post office confused the lady in front of me who had stopped to hold the door open for me (and I wondered if I should've bothered to explain to her that I was stopping to photograph this really cool shadow?).

I am a texture and pattern 'hound' so to speak (which is why I think I love shadows so much since they often throw patterns). This image is either real wood or concrete made to look like it-now I don't remember! All I know is that I took this somewhere near the sculpture garden at the Albuquerque Museum.

And to all you out there that celebrate St. Patrick's Day: Happy St. Patrick's Day! Go ahead, be green!  ; )

Oh-wait! before you go, my friend had posted an image that I thought was the coolest shadow shot, so please check out Robert Redus' site to see what I'm talking about.

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2011 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

Ola paula...i am sure the person thought it odd that you were taking a picture of the floor...or maybe she just thought you were checking your phone. you would have had a lot to explain the whole reason for shooting shadows...you would have either made her smile or irritated for having to listen to your explanation. kind of like how i am being wordy with this post. happy sss2 miss paula!!!

Love your shadow shot for the day as always, Paula! People look at me oddly when I'm out taking shadow shots, too, but then the people here in my complex have already accepted the fact that I'm just a tad "different"?? That's their nice word! Hope you have a great weekend!

I'm laughing at the image of you stopping to take the top photo! I'm sure folks think we're crazy sometimes with the things we choose to photograph!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you, too!

Hi dear, Paula,
That the best impression we can get as a shadow chaser's- It happened to me all the time.

People asked if I am something or hunting for something. When I explained that I am just taking the shadow for our meme thing? Re-actions are like: Ohhh... is that all? However, they found out it is cool thing. Shadow Chasing!!!

Great job, girl!

Happy SSS...

Both neat ShadowShots! I too have gotten some weird looks while shooting shadows on what appears to be the bare ground to others. he he. It's kind of fun to keep them in the dark. (Pun intended!!) Will skip on over to Robert's blog now. Happy SSS and St.Paddy's Day too.

No explanation would have sufficed--she wouldn't have understood!

The vertical window shadows are almost like 'prison' where the bars are straight and true, angular and abrupt. The other linear pattern is not perfectly straight and true. The pattern is like layers of sand in the desert - more organic. Perfect or not, lines of shadowy art are the result! The corned beef is starting to simmer, Happy St Patrick's Day!

The tiles do seem imprisoned by the power of the shadows! A striking pattern! Amazing how shadows can stop us short in our intended journey! And it's such fun!

what wonderful abstract patterns the shadows create...
