A SHADOW TANGO

SHADOWS
(a poem by Joseph King)

The light is dim
the feeling is dark
the shadow protects me
it saves me from light
when i feel all alone
with no place to go
the shadow is there
it helps me find my way home
when the world has deserted me
when no one seems to care
i can always count on my shadow
i know it will be there

Shadows dancing across a boulder cloaked in a ocher colored lichen.

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2011 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

The angel (or gnome) sits amongst the shadows. Is it pensive sitting in the dark shadows or luxuriating in the bright sun, a gift of God. I like to think that the positives outweigh the negatives in this picture - the light and shadow together will point the way out of the mess or toward the blessings we seek...

Happy SSS to you Paula! Is the second shadow that of a desert succulent? I love guessing who casts some of these shadows.

The poem pairs so well with that first shot - I love it!

The shadows in the second photo almost have an ominous feel about them, like something wanting to reach out and grab us!

Beautiful picture and I love the quote. I'm sure Gemma will want to include it in her shadow quote base.

Absolutely perfect--the shadow in the boulder shot looks like an ancient ritual or sacrifice!

These shadow shots are awesome. The colors in the second one are so beautiful. It is so amazing what we can see when we look for shadows. They are amazing gifts of nature. genie

That's a rather menacing looking shadow on the rock.

Beautiful shadows, Paula! I'm guessing you get way more sun in the desert than we get here in Canada. :)

A very lively shadow tango in the first photo! Fascinating! And the boulder shadow somehow reminds me of sacred place - like a cairn!

Those dancing shadows look ominous. Could they be cudgels of some sort? :)
