Passing Through The Portal Of Time

Where does this lead to?

Where does this lead to, this unknown portal that looms before us. We can barely see the way to get through, but pass through it we must. There is no looking back. There is no way to stand still. We don't even know what is on the other side...but the journey begins for us for 2012. And, we will journey it together, come what may.

I thought this a befitting image to close the year with and to start the new one off. It is, enigmatic, at best. Just as the year ahead of us is. We do not know what it will bring.

Happily, we do know that it will continue to bring us shadow shots from around the world.

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2010 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them. I hope to have the 2011 images asembled in one place in time for next week's posting.

And the image? It was taken at an old fire station in Denver which now serves as a museum.

Depending on one's point of view, the shadows may evoke prison bars. But, a prison we enter of our own making - are are escaping from. I may fall prey to worry, yet today with Patti's health improving and no more treatments, we can only go forth is optimism, we cannot see far into the future. But can relish what is so wonderful about life. Happy New Year 2012 - we can merely proceed or enjoy to the fullest. I prefer the latter!

A beautiful, symbolic image of the season! Gentle patterns of shadows, but it seems the light patterns lead out to horizons!

A really lovely ShadowShot. The rich color of the wood floor adds to it's beauty.

I think I am beginning to feel like a time traveler too. When I was just born televisions were not a common place item in ones home. Now people walk around talking into telephones the size of half-a-sandwich and can see who they are talking to at the same time!! I am still amazed at how electricity works!!! Time traveler or old fogie?! Happy New Year dear lady!
