The Red Boot Man

Last weekend, my friend, Linda Laitner and I headed up to Abiquiu for their Studio Tour. On the way up, we stopped at a couple of museums in Santa Fe-one of which is the International Folk Art Museum. I haven't been to that museum since my son was little, so it had to have been a good 15 years ago or so. We had great fun there as it is very much so child friendly.

Of course, right away, I start drooling over the shadows in all of the displays and started to 'sneak' a few photos when Linda discovered a sign that said, "Go Ahead and DO Take Pictures!". Unheard of! So, we both had a blast with our point and shoot cameras taking pictures without feeling like criminals.

This red boot was from one of the displays. Don't know which country-maybe Bali (looks Balinese, and shame on me for not paying attention!). So, this is the rest of the exhibit that the red boot is from:

Tres cool, no? You can count on seeing more of the images from this trip over time. I wish all museums would let you photograph what's there. Digital cameras are so great now that one doesn't need to use a flash. I think it's a great way to promote what is in the museum by letting folks take pictures so that they can share it with everyone else. And, those who live within the distance would be more likely to go see what is on exhibit. Don't you think?

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Hey Harriet. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2010 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

This boot is so stylish! Am I to assume that this boot was ever used for stomping on things (like snakes)?
Comfortable as well as stylish footwear...the smaller museums, perhaps off the beaten path, offer so much more in eclectic and native art than the very large and well known ones. Cool displays!

I agree that in these days of being able to take photos withpout flash, we should be encouraged to take photos to encourage others to visit. I love the boots! Might not be specifically from Bali, but could be generally from Indonesia. (I should know, having lived in Indonesia for 3 years!!)

Such fun boots! I'm thinking we should all pitch in and buy a pair for Ralph...He thinks they're stylish.hehe. The whole ensemble is quite scarey I think. Bali sounds right. Happy SSS.

Shadows abound along with the color red. My eyes are dazzled!

What immortal eye can see

Santa Fe is a place for finding a lot of nice and interesting things. I love it there. Just do not get to go very often.

Not exactly motorcycle boots, but they look cool! Glad they let you take photos. Not too many allow it, especially paintings as they can be reproduced with a good camera.
Been ill here, laying low and recovering. Hope allmis good with you.

Peace

Tres cool, indeed! What a neat place you visited. That's great that photo taking was allowed.

Thanks for stopping by, Paula.

Have a fun week seeking shadows.
