Ha Ha Hiya Hyacinth!

White Hyacinth In A Planter

Let's add to that title, "...on a sunny day in the greater southwest". Still images from the Arizona trip and still from that same outdoor mall (Talacapaque) in Sedona. It's a good thing I don't shoot film anymore! This one stop alone would've cost me a fortune to have my film developed!

Same Day, Same Mall...Still Taking Pictures!

Pretty fun sculpture made from this and that and bits and pieces! I love it. It sort of reminds me of those long BBQ prongs that folks use to roast hog dogs and toast marshmallows with.

I also posted a few more images of graffiti art on my Flickr Photostream site. Just click on the set that is labeled, "Two Guns Graffiti".

Oh! And even 'funner' still-check out this site that has a live video stream of the on going Merry Monarch annual hula competition in Hilo, Hawaii. This particular clip is of men dancing. I know, I know....Hollywood has ruined you guys thinking that hula is only done by females with curvy figures. Ancient hula was danced ONLY by men.

Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." (Martin Luther King)

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Hey Harriet. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2010 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here to view them.

And, a pretty darned cool video:

Imagine a white hyacinth making such a dark shadow!

A SEEKER OF SHADOWS

A seeker of shadows, they say,
Will keep her eyes peeled night and day
For resident shades
That haunt the dark glades
And never come outside to play.

The sculpture is so cool, something that would be unconventional on our New England street. Birds and such would stand out nicely.

Yes, the digital world allows us to delete as necessary. I did have to toss not-so-good prints in the film days. Creativity cried out for digital, perhaps we can all become photo artists in this digital age!

Great dance videos! And I love the contrast of the rusty container and smooth white perfection of the hyacinths.

love both shots - the sculptures are funky and the spring shot delicate - great combination for the day...

I la-la-la-love the hyacinth, Paula, and the Sedona hot-dog-sticks cast interesting shadows, too.
Must check out your other site now.

Hey hey Paula. (OMgosh I just had a flashback from my teen years!) The sculpture doodad shadows are so cute. I always want to buy those cool things, but better judgement stops me...Our place would look like Sanford&Son if I bought everything I find interesting! I'll try to get over to those sites while I'm using the wi-fi at the visitor center. Happy SSS.

I'll ask somebody to to check where the problem is.

That video is weird and cool all at the same time. I'm glad creative minds do things like that and give us something to consider.

Love the hyacinth photo...I feel I can almost smell it :) Happy Sunday!

This is my third time here. Every time I've tried to comment, someone or something pulls me away. I love the shadow shot. Something about the granite pot, up close like that. Great shadow. Wish we had some shadows of flowers around here, been nothing but rain and clouds for what seems like weeks.
I love the hula. Thanks for sharing your heritage with us. I have seen it done up close and persoanl by a Japanese friend of mine who studied the movements. But never by men. Have a great shadow shot sunday and everyday!

peace
