Setting My Heart Right

The Altar Screen at our church on Christmas Eve (The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary)

(The altar screen was built by hand a few years ago by some
of our parish men. It is a replica of the original altar
screen and had to be brought in in three pieces.
The center piece clears the ceiling by only a few inches!)

"Help us to embrace you will,
Give us the strength to follow your call,
So that your truth may live in our hearts."
(a Psalm, but I don't know which one)

And, I offer you a quote from Confucious today:

"To put the world right in order we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right.

That will be my lifetime resolution: setting my heart right.

there was a time, and not that long ago, when i didn't believe this, didn't believe that starting with me could make a difference. the last few years have seen me change my mind and this past year i have learned to embrace this thought and it is humbling and daunting to think my heart matters.

this is a wonderful after christmas post. bless you.

It is a beautiful screen with Our Lady in the center. I love the White color and the design. The prayer is lovely. I don't know which psalm it is either. All things start with us, don't they. I think that is what the buddhists mean when they say that we create our own world and everything in it. If we set our hearts right--the world around us is set right as well. Each of us has to do it. Lovely idea. Thank you for your kind words today.
Peace and Hope,

your new years resolution is perfect.
i am reflecting too on my place in the wheel of it all.
i love the power of accepting responsibility at the center of my thoughts, words and actions.

I know your Shadow Shots are in the post below this one, but I like the symetrical shadows on either side of the altar. Thjios reminds me so much of the one in the church where I grew up, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
Confucious seemed like he had many wise sayings. Quotes are often mentioned by others amongst the blogs. Woprds strung together that might make you halt in your tracks for a moment and consider them. Confucious I've heard of, but most others I haven't. I always wondered who had the sense to write down what was said, or if anyone ever quoted me.

Peace
