The Tenured Theocartic Tern Travels to Tiperary

ABC Wednesday is a word meme with participants from around the world. This fabulous meme was created and hosted by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt who hails from Great Britain. Over time, others have joined in to help host this wonderful and informative meme. We are now in our seventh round-some of the participants have been with this from the very first round; others have joined in along the way. Each week we are taken across the globe to see the varied and exciting contributions people have taken the time to discover and capture. We start with the letter, "A" and each week we post something in regards to the next letter of the alphabet. This week's letter. is, "T".

TOMBSTONE

A beautiful graveyard near Hilo, HI. This graveyard has 'categories', it seems. There is the Catholic section. Then there is the Chinese/Japanese section. And, other denominations. One can see the cultural differences in how the sites are decorated and maintained. The Chinese/Japanese section has beautiful tombstones like this one. Many were monolithic in stature.

TOADIE

We have desert toads that live in our yard and garden. They have gone to 'sleep' by now (they hibernate for the fall, winter and spring) and will not awaken until next summer-usually around June. This one is the big daddy of our toad family. We are quite fond of them and appreciate the job they do of devouring many insects at night.

TIME

Does anyone really have the time? Or, know what time it is? What an interesting concept time is. You can't really possess it yet we speak as though we can. Such as in, "I don't have enough time to ___". Time is there. It is a continuum that cannot be interrupted by our means or desires.

TAOS SUNSET

Sunsets in the southwestern region are quite beautiful. And, seeing as most of our days our sunny, this kind of scene can be enjoyed nearly every day if you happen to be outside at that time. And, the added bonus is that you have all this expanse of land and mesas that set the stage for the spectacular evening light show.

Note: no theocratic terns were used in this posting. They have been left unharmed...

Great T's. I've always loved the southwest sunsets - they are huge and wildly gorgeous! Toads, I appreciate but... :)

Love the sunset.
Time seems to be a recurring theme this week! The tombstone says "Your time is up."

Your post title Paula is tantalizing - and I love the toadie! Guess what? Next week I'm leaving for Maui with my oldest daughter for a girls' getaway! It's been 40 years since my last trip there so I'm excited!

Whew...I'm glad the Terns were left unharmed. You are funny.
Mr. Toadie is a hoot. He really looks humorless and seems to have the "I dare you" attitude. Great post.

Thanks for sharing the photos. The image of sunset at Taos certainly bring back a lot of memory of our trip to New Mexico. The Chinese character on the tombstone does not make a lot sense, it is even strange as for a person's name.

I would always have time to watch a toad (or a sunset). Hibernation, that sounds like a good scheme as temperatures plummet.
Previous comment. Thought I'd share this for no other reason than I thought what a coincidence, by chance I learnt today from a comment on my other, non ABC, blog that Chinese calligraphy is different to normal written characters and tricky to read.
